Barrel Crowning

Barrel Crowning

Most all barrel crowning is completed "through the headstock", supported at both ends, with the barrel indicated concentric to the bore.   The only exception to this is when the barrel is so short that is requires a special fixture.  This service includes shortening and crowning with either a recessed 11 deg. crown or a plain 11 deg. target crown.   The machined portion will not be refinished.  This service is available by appointment onlyfor drop off and pick up. Please contact me ahead of time to schedule an appointment and for directions.

I do my best to insure that there is no damage caused to surface finishes.  However it is not always possible.  I use either brass or copper padded screws and shims to make contact with barrel while it being machined.  That contact point will often leave a brass or copper mark.   This can normally be removed with with a copper bore solvent.  That being said, spray on finishes may be damaged where they are contacted.   You accept this risk by having me preform any work on your firearm.
